Major fashion trends and moments of 2013

2014/1/1      view:
The ever changing dynamics of fashion, with new trends replacing older ones and vintage styles making a comeback of sorts every now and then, it is hard to summarize the special moments that managed to linger on and changed the way fashion is being perceived by everyone.

Among those fashion moments that have helped in changing the course of trends in 2013 was the return of Punk subculture at the Costume Institute Ball’s Met Gala 2013, which saw famous Hollywood celebrities turning up in out-of-the-box creations by internationally-renowned designers.

Hosted to celebrate the opening of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art's ‘Punk: Chaos To Couture’ exhibit, the Vogue magazine-organized event witnessed divas like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lawrence and Beyoncé in punk-inspired ensembles from Giles Deacon, Christian Dior and Riccardo Tisci.

Another noticeable fashion trend was experienced through the advent of 3D-print designs. Supported by the likes of Dita Von Teese and Lady Gaga, the futuristic style even secured a place at the recently held Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which showcased a 3D-printed shimmery winged dress, sported by Lindsay Ellingson.

Created in collaboration with the famous 3D printing marketplace Shapeways, architect Bradley Rothenberg and Swarovski, the beautiful ensemble featured a sequence of entwined snowflakes gathered into a unique geometric shape that gave a 3D printing effect.

World’s most sought after fashion icon Kate Middleton, who has always managed to woe fashion lovers through her strikingly beautiful sartorial choices, once again stayed on top of the list this year for her exclusive ladylike maternity wardrobe.

Like her late mother-in-law, Lady Diana, who is still remembered for her exquisite floral day dresses and off-shouldered fairy princess gowns, the duchess made her own mark with demure wrap dresses and elegant floor-length gowns, which successfully covered her baby bump without compromising on style.
